OUR STORY

A Beacon of Hope:

Rahat Kada Hospice

Our story is one of compassion, dedication, and the unwavering belief in the dignity of every human life, even in its final stages. It began with a visionary, Dr. Saira Khan, and her profound understanding of a critical need in Pakistan's healthcare landscape.

Dr. Saira Khan, a pioneer in her field, recognized that while efforts were being made to treat and cure, there was a lack of support for those facing the end of their journey. Under the banner of the Medical Aid Foundation, she embarked on a mission to establish Pakistan's first hospice, a place of sanctuary for those with incurable illnesses.

Rahat Kada Today:

A Legacy of Compassion

Rahat Kada stands as a testament to Dr. Khan's enduring legacy. From its humble beginnings, it has remained committed to providing 100% free-of-cost care, a beacon of hope for countless families who have nowhere else to turn. The hospice welcomes patients from across Pakistan, from local government hospitals in Karachi to remote regions of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Many arrive with the hope of a cure, only to discover that their illness has progressed beyond treatment.

The situation is particularly heart-wrenching when it involves children. The emotional pain experienced by these young patients and their families is a profound tragedy, one that Rahat Kada strives to alleviate.

Looking Ahead:

Expanding Our Reach

Currently, Rahat Kada operates with 20 beds, but our vision is much larger. We are in the process of expanding, with one building under renovation and another under construction. Our goal is to increase our capacity to 100 beds, making Rahat Kada one of the largest hospices in Southeast Asia. In 2025, we plan to add 20 beds specifically for pediatric care, a crucial step in addressing the unique needs of our youngest patients.

This expansion is a testament to the dedication of our board members, the tireless efforts of physicians and individuals, and the generosity of philanthropists who believe in our mission.
